I admire your commitment to finding the direct ancestors of the letter writers. From firsthand experience, receiving treasures such as these are welcome and amazing day/week/month-making! And, on the flip side, as I'm sure you can attest, being the person who brings that type of joy to another is equally rewarding. :)

Kirsi, Yes, it was so rewarding. I know how much it would mean to me if someone had letters written by my ancestors. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Love this! I had pen-pals as a kid too. One of them I am still friends with. Sadly, my mother threw all my saved letters away when I was in my 20s and had a box of my stuff stored in my grandmother's basement while I was moving around. All my collected souvenirs went with them too, but that's another story. What an amazing collection of letters you have. I am sorry to hear about Ronnie's letters. Did he have no family or were they not something you wanted to pass on?

Cynthia, Thanks. No Ronnie’s letters were all about whining. Evidently he was crazy about her and the feeling was not mutual. I’d hate for any relatives to read them. Sorry about yours.

I bet your sister just 'loved' getting another letter from Lovelorn Ronnie! And thanks....I still agonize over that box of stuff.
