We often try to walk in another's shoes to understand their perspective. Your mother's diary IS the pair of shoes... I hope your journey is rewarding and new perspectives are gained. i look forward to reading all about your discoveries.
Wow, that could be a bit scary, who knows what a mother could say about her daughter? I'm quite glad my mother never wrote a diary. But if she had, for sure I would have read it! Excited to see what you make of it.
I'm looking forward to learning more about your mom. Your Mother's Day story showed the incredible bond you had. It will be fascinating to get to know her through her own words.
What a treasure. I have my mother's pocket diary from when she was 14 (only 1 year). It contains mostly a record of what she did each day, but every once in a while there is a gem of entry... like her flirting with her first boyfriend. :) will look forward to following along on your journey.
Loved that you could discover how much of yourself you would find in your mother’s words.
Myrtle, yes and so much more!!
What a treasure! I hope to read the entries you'll craft from this find.
Karen, Thanks. Here is my second post - but really my first post with her entries. https://lyndaheines.substack.com/p/mercurial
I can't wait to hear more of this story!

Kirsi, Never thought about it as a pair of shoes. Love that! Thanks.

Not really scary but I have had it and thought about it since I received it in 1987. Thanks for reading and commenting.
What a remarkable gift she left you, and what an equally wonderful gift you give her in preserving and carrying on her stories and memory.
Lori, Yes, I feel so fortunate to have this little book. I’m hoping I can do them justice! Thanks for the restack.
You are holding a treasure, Lynda.
My aunt kept a diary (well, diaries) of similar vintage and with locks. Do share some of your discoveries when the time is right. Brava!
Marian, Thanks. I’m looking forward to sharing for sure!
