This is a GREAT story, Linda. I really identified with it, having been a flag corps member with the marching band in high school. Thanks for sharing this!
Nancy, We didn’t use flags much, but I vaguely remember them. Seems like when we used flags occasionally and we were called guidons. Glad you could identify!
This is such a fun story and look back at Evansville in the 60s. I love your photos and the way you stood up for yourself. I went to Bosse Field for minor league baseball games as a boy. I would have gone to North High had we not moved.

Neil, Thank you! And thanks for taking time to read this post. So you used to live here huh? Small world.
Nice story, Lynda - It is not a saying I have heard before ... But clearly effective in your case😊 !
Thanks!
I've never been good at speaking up. I so glad you did. What a cute, and smart, cheerleader.
Lesley, I didn’t always speak up, and did end up taking assertiveness training when I was a bit older! Thanks for reading.
What a great story, Lynda! I feel proud of your squeaky wheel moment! And thanks for the mention!
Kirsi, Thanks. And thanks for the inspiration.
