I love this story. And I love that you saved the original quilt and honored all the hard work that went into making it.

Lorinda, Thanks. There is no way I'd get rid of it. I just wish we knew who made it. Dave was under it in his room yesterday, trying to keep warm!

I'm guessing those fabrics date this back to the 1930s or 40s. So wonderful that you rescued it and gave it a new life.

Oh, Lynda, and now you've created a new story about it for the next generation. Somewhere, in someone's family photos, a picture of this quilt is still hidden. May you find it one day, and yes, it's a gift to you from your ancestors' past. Beautiful. 🥹

I'm amazed too Linda. What a find and how close you came to losing it. It looks lovely on the bed. I hope one day, that you might find a clue who made it.

Lynda,

What a great story and surprise for you on the inner quilt. I even liked the top pattern. Looks lovely on your bed.

Quilting was not in my growing up days in our home but I know my Grandma and the Red Cross group made many during World War 2 days to send wherever needed.

Merry Christmas and a great 2026 to you and your family.

That's beautiful. Almost every quilt I have was made in the 1930s by my great grandmother Anna Long Hoard.

Hi Lynda...what a great story about such a wonderful find! So glad you peeked into it. It reminds me of a quilt my husband's grandmother made before 1935, probably in the 1920's. We have it on a quilt rack in our family room along with an older patchwork one with family initials embroidered on it.

Quilts from the past are treasures for sure.
